RAF Typhoon FGR4s have conducted a mission with French aircraft in a combined operation on an subterranean weapons facility in Syrian territory used by the Islamic State group (IS), according to the UK's MoD.
The site, pinpointed through intelligence, was assessed as storing arms and explosives, the statement said, and was situated in hills just to the north of Palmyra in Syria's central region.
"Our aircraft utilized laser-guided Paveway IV weapons to strike a several approach shafts down to the depot... preliminary assessments indicate the strike was effective," the MoD said.
There was no indication of any civilian casualties in the strike conducted Saturday night and all the aircraft returned to base without incident, the MoD added.
The British jets were assisted by a Voyager aerial refuelling aircraft.
IS - alternatively referred to as ISIS - imposed jihadist rule over parts of Iraq and Syria until 2019.
"This action demonstrates British leadership, and resolve to operate in unison with our partners, to eliminate any re-emergence of IS and their dangerous and violent ideologies in the Middle East," UK Defence Secretary the minister remarked.
RAF aircraft have performed patrols over Syria to "forestall any attempted comeback" of the group following its routing at the Baghuz confrontation in 2019, the MoD reported.
"I extend gratitude to all the members of the UK armed forces involved in this strike for their expertise and their valour," Healey added. "They were part of thousands of UK service members stationed over the festive period. This mission, to eliminate militants who pose a risk to our safety, highlights how our armed forces are always on standby, throughout the year, keeping Britain secure domestically and strong abroad."
In December, the American forces conducted what it termed a "massive strike" against IS targets in Syria, after an attack resulted in the deaths of two American soldiers and a local interpreter in the Palmyra area.
The UN reports Daesh still boasts roughly 5-7 thousand militants in both countries.
